Karin van Os is a contemporary visual artist with more than 30 years of experience in art, complemented by a strong background in interior design and concept development.

Originally from the Netherlands, Karin moved to the Côte d’Azur in 2005, where she has since been living and working as a contemporary visual artist. Her work is strongly inspired by the Mediterranean light and the colours of the Côte d’Azur and Provence: soft pinks, terracotta, orange, sandy and earthy tones. Red is often a recurring thread in her work, sometimes subtle, sometimes powerful and expressive.

Karin primarily works with acrylic and combines paint with natural materials such as wood and jute. By layering colour, texture and materials, she creates paintings with a tactile, almost sculptural quality and a subtle three dimensional effect. She also creates portraits, exploring expression, character and human emotion.

Her work is modern, warm and versatile. It is created to stand on its own, but also to become part of an environment. Art and interiors have always been closely connected in Karin’s work. Her paintings are regularly selected for private homes, hospitality and interior projects, where colour, scale, texture and composition become an integral part of the space. Her work is created to enhance the atmosphere and identity of an interior.

Her background in interior design and concept development has given Karin a strong understanding of colour, proportion, materials and space. This knowledge continues to influence her artistic approach and allows her to create paintings that work naturally within different architectural and interior environments.

Her paintings are sold and collected internationally and are regularly selected for interior projects by architects, designers and private collectors.

Art beyond the studio

Karin’s work within the art world extends beyond her own paintings. Together with TAC, The Art Collective Côte d’Azur, she develops and organises exhibitions and art projects. As part of the collective, she works alongside fellow artists to curate exhibitions, collaborate with venues and bring artists and audiences together across the Côte d’Azur.

Karin is also the creator and curator of the Art Agenda Provence for the Hans in the Provence e magazine. Each month, she selects a curated overview of exhibitions and art events taking place across Provence and the Côte d’Azur, sharing them with the magazine’s readers through the e magazine and monthly newsletter.

Today, Karin’s focus is fully on art: creating, exhibiting, connecting artists, developing art projects and making art more visible.
